Genevieve Herreria

Staff Attorney


As a Staff Attorney at HomeBase, Genevieve provides guidance to local communities in the design and implementation of regional systems responsive to the causes of poverty and homelessness. Genevieve’s practice in law and public policy spans the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, having previously served as the California Manager of the California-China Office of Trade and Investment, Policy Manager at the Bay Area Council in 2010, Policy Associate at Google Inc., and Legislative Assistant to United States Senators Chris Dodd and Paul Sarbanes. She moved from Washington, D.C. to California in January 2011, where she first served as a Law Fellow with Public Advocates, Inc.

Genevieve was named one of 100 Most Influential Filipina American Women by the Filipina Women’s Network in 2011. She received a Bryce Harlow Fellowship in 2007 and a Happy and John Hazen White, Sr. Internship in 2003. She remains active in grassroots efforts to rescue and rehome abandoned and abused companion animals from California and beyond, and is avid supporter of various animal welfare and environmental justice campaigns.
